A Forager's Kitchen

Bruntegården works with the fantastic pantry that the surrounding nature provides, highlighting local ingredients and regional traditions. More and more people bring Jerusalem artichokes, raspberries, cloudberries, mushrooms, and perch directly to them — if the quality is good, it ends up in their pots.

"We like to try new things — the wine list exists mostly in the background!" explains the friendly staff. The view over Siljan and the mighty Dalarna forests is definitely part of the reward — and the excellent wine selection is the next.

The Tasting Experience

They serve two kinds of menus: a larger tasting menu and a traditional à la carte. The tasting menu is excellent and very varied — guests compare it favorably to Michelin-starred restaurants abroad.

The food is like having Sweden on a plate. You get to taste ingredients from Dalarna and from other parts of the country — it's truly representative of Sweden.

Traditional Meets Innovation

Bruntegården is a beloved institution in the region, maintaining curiosity and ambition throughout the year. Expect playful touches alongside deep respect for tradition — like the ärtbullen (pea bun) made from a recipe from the owner's grandmother Rut.

The Setting

This restaurant is part of a small hotel uphill from the local center, still within walking distance. The building is a very traditional red log house. Their outdoor terrace is genuinely nice on warm days — from the front row tables, you have a magnificent view of Lake Siljan and the center of Rättvik.
