Zorn Museum
The world's largest collection of Sweden's master painter
Sweden's Master Painter
Anders Zorn (1860-1920) rose from humble beginnings in Mora to become one of the world's most celebrated portrait painters. His work hangs in the Musée d'Orsay, the Metropolitan Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston — but the largest collection remains here, in his hometown.
The Zorn Museum, designed by architect Ragnar Östberg and opened in 1939, houses an extraordinary collection of Zorn's paintings, watercolors, etchings, and sculptures. His portraits capture personality with remarkable precision, while his nudes and genre scenes celebrate the light, water, and people of Dalarna.
Zorngården — The Artist's Home
Next to the museum stands Zorngården, the home Anders built with his wife Emma. Completed in 1910, the house remains virtually unchanged since Emma's death in 1942. Guided tours reveal an interior filled with art and objects from around the world, reflecting Zorn's international success and Emma's sophisticated taste.
More Zorn Sites
The Zorn Collections include additional sites: Zorn's Gammelgård is an open-air museum of traditional timber buildings that Zorn saved from destruction. The Textile Chamber displays Dalarna's rich textile heritage. For the complete Zorn experience, visit Gopsmor — the remote cottage where he painted some of his most famous works.

Located in central Mora, the Zorn Museum is just 10 km from Muntergården — an easy morning or afternoon visit. Combine it with a stroll along Mora's waterfront or lunch at Café Zorn, housed in an old outbuilding between the museum and Zorngården.
