Perched high in the historic summer pasture village of Fryksås, Smidgården offers one of Dalarna's most memorable dining experiences. This old summer farm, situated with wonderful views, combines café, restaurant, and spa facilities including an indoor pool and wood-heated sauna overlooking Lake Orsa.

Smidgården is a highly situated gem in Fryksås where they work with the local forest pantry. Food and drink are selected with care, taking great consideration for the environment without ever compromising on quality.

The Fryksås Experience

The Länsmans family, descendants of farmers who had their summer pasture in Fryksås until the 1960s, decided in 2004 to return and settle permanently in this magical place. In 2006, they opened Smidgården, largely built by hand.

The restaurant is cozy with excellent, affordable, and beautifully served food. Worth a visit all year round — and take the opportunity to treat yourself to a lovely walk in Fryksås.

Local, Seasonal Cuisine

Smidgården's restaurant and café offer delicious and well-prepared dishes and pastries. There is a warm, familiar, and loving atmosphere here, which is why they have many returning guests.

Traditional Swedish dishes feature prominently — the Swedish potato pancake with vegetables is legendary. In winter, you might arrive by snowmobile sleigh for a magical three-course dinner before being whisked back to Grönklitt.

A fantastic historical setting and building with excellent dishes on the menu. Excellent to take the car or ski here in winter for lunch by the fire. Summer brings the terrace with phenomenal views — perfect for enjoying a Swedish lunch in the sunshine.
